I like JGL more. I think he's the better actor..

However, I love this gif of Franco. It's smug and arrogant as frick. Props.

Franco is a far better actor IMO.

JGL is a solid actor, but not versatile the way Franco is.

I think Franco could've performed any role JGL has played just as well. The inverse is certainly not true.

Exactly. Franco would've been just as serviceable as JGL in any of his movies.

JGL in 127 Hours or as James Dean? HELL NO

This is true for Franco. He's versatile no doubt.

Isn't that what GREAT acting is all about?

I think JGL is very solid and could have a great career like Tom Cruise or George Clooney or Bruce Willis. There's nothing bad about any of those guys in terms of acting. But I would not consider them greats like DDL, DeNiro, Brando, Pacino, Hoffman.

The difference? Versatility.

I don't think I can see Franco as John Blake in TDKR... Still a solid actor though.

ETA: I also don't see JGL in Franco's role in Pineapple Express either

JGL has a damn good agent that lands him a bunch of supporting roles in big name films. he has never once truly stood out in film. even his performance in "50/50" is terribly overrated by some on this message board.

Yeah, I think clearly there are some roles they wouldn't be a good fit in.

Franco could never pull off a convincing Cobra Commander.

I'll give the nod to Franco, but I think both have very bright futures ahead.

I think Franco is better but I don't agree with this statement.

Franco has a hard time showing vulnerability or insecurity.

The roles JGL had in 50/50 or 500 days of summer are JGL's bread and butter. I have a hard time picturing Franco in those roles.

Two of the better young actors around. Franco has really improved over time, like mentioned, his versatility is insane.

Dammit, now this thread has me popping Pineapple Express in!

Lets put it this way, if Franco had been in Looper, that subpar movie would have won at least 7 Oscars.

If he replaces Bruce Willis maybe. That movie was a POS, but Willis just phoned that one in.
