Should one expect any type of comp if you have to send a steak back 2 times due to it not being cooked properly to order?

Just patronized one of our local BR steakhouses. They didn't get my steak right until I saw it the 3rd time. By that time my group had already finished most of their meals.

I was a bit frustrated. I am holding back on the name of the establishment until I get some feed back on this.

That's pretty ridiculous. I never want to send stuff back just Bc I hate the idea of my food getting more sets of hands on it and back to the kitchen. I would have definitely said something.

i have only had to send a steak back 2 times, it was at a restaurant in Galveston with my family, they comped the steak, which was priced about $45.

I didnt say anything, but the manager came by and said he was very embarrassed at what had happened and he had comped the steak and gave the whole table desert because i got my steak after everyone had finished

How did you order it cooked and how did it come out both times?

I don't think anyone is owed a comp unless the situation is extreme. I think it's good business to take some art if apologetic action if the restaurant messed up and they'd like to keep the customer.

I complained about a restaurant once and was offered free food as the owner posted here.

Oh, and it's difficult for them to uncook the steak. You should have informed them that you would only accept a new steak cooked perfectly rare in place of the one they obviously overcooked.

Well we were part of a large group of 20 people.

Am I wrong to expect the same level of service as if it were only a party of 2?

Some of that depends on the type if restaurant. I'd expect Ruth's Chris to handle it with finesse. I wouldn't expect the same level at Outback or Western Sizzler if that's even still around.

Clarification

I ordered a bone in ribeye cooked to medium.

It came out well done.

They did replace it with a new steak. I think they rushed it and sent it out very quickly the second time. It was rare.

This was agreed upon by my friends at the table as well as the server each time.

Was it Flemings? I had this happen at Flemings in Los Angeles in March and when they brought the replacement steak to my daughter I said that's comped and they said ok. Actually it was just the first replacement. Maybe I was out of line but I'm not losing any slerp over it.

Most restaurants can cook for 20+ people EVERY NIGHT. So no your expectations are not wrong.

Should have ordered medium rare.

And Sullivan's is absolutely horrible.

I've had a couple of bad experiences there. Have actively avoided it for a while now.

Do I think you're owed it or should expect it? No. They eventually fixed the issue and you were able to eat the meal, technically.

That said, if I was your server, I would have made sure you get some compensation. Even if its just a discount.

Sullivan's sucks though so not shocked.

LA people look down upon OC people and OC people look down upon LA people so it is possible I have some issues I need to work through.
