My go-to cheap merlot is Red Diamond.

Just starting to get into wines. I can't tell any difference between a $50 and a $10 bottle at this point. I'll pick up a bottle of that.

Soon you'll be able to distinguish by the intensity of the hangovers.

Used to really like Velvet Devil (2009) although the newer vintages have been underwhelming.

I second that. For $9, it's fine for an everyday drinker.

I know people will give me shite, but for the price-point Black Box Cab is not bad. Especially if you and the wife like a couple of glasses almost nightly.

Chile´s Casillero Del Diablo´s Merlot is probably a good value for the price.

Should be about 10 bucks.

If their Carmenére and Cabernet Sauvignon are any indication, then it should be high in alcohol content, serious, straight forward, and fairly north of acceptable.

I won't give you shite. I will agree. We regularly buy Black Box Cab and Malbec.

Black Box Cab

So funny. We have none at the moment, but usually have a Black box Cab in the fridge in my garage shop. Actualy all their stuff is OK by me.

Always stop at Sams in Daphne on our wayto LA and buy at least one for beach consumption. Sometimes more if we feel like more.

And the ferocity with which F&Ders defend their "high dollar" suggestions...
