Anyone else think we should start Eades/Glenn on Friday instead of Nola?

It's not that I'm conceding the first game to OU because they have Gray. It's more that I feel a LOT more comfortable pitching Nola in an elimination should Gray shut us down.

If Gray shuts us down and we use up Nola, then we're depending on Eades in an elimination game. That didn't fare well last year.

No, just so Nola will have a full weeks of rest to start the 1st game in Omaha. You almost always throw your best pitcher in the first game of a series.

You really need to win game 1 and obviously Nola gives you the best chance to do that. JMO.

True. But either way, if Gray shuts us down (our bats have gone ice cold too), then we're fricked depending on Eades who couldn't even get to the 3rd inning against a SWAC school.

Shouldn't OU feel more comfortable pitching Gray in an elimination game, as well?

No need to get cute, especially when we're the favorite...Go with your Ace in Game1. Win, and have two shots at home to advance.

We're better with our Ace than OU is with theirs anyway.

OU's 2nd best starter hasn't been known to have major nerve problems and last less than 3 innings against inferior competition like Eades has. (Stony Brook, JSU)

Eades shouldn't start a game

If Game 3 is needed, throw McCune out there. Eades it too mentally unstable at this level

I can stand behind this. But the reason I don't feel 100% on this is will Glenn have nerves or rust after missing a week?

You're right, it will be a little scary if we lose game1, but that's postseason baseball. Someone will then have to step up in Game2 and 3. If they (Eades/Glenn) don't, then we're eliminated ... simple as that.

Nola is the SEC pitcher of the year, has better or equal stats in a tougher conference and you want to hold him back against a team who has two people hitting over .300? This is crazy talk...start Nola game 1.

I think we may tee off on Gray.

I've been watching his clips and reading about him. He throws a lot of heat in the strike zone. Breg and Katz can easily get around on high heat in the strike zone.

Remember UC Irvine. We lost game 1 and came back and won Game 2 and 3.

Winning game 1 doesn't guarantee advancement. It's not like there's a loser's bracket to fight out of.
The biggest worry for me, is that if Gray shuts us down (a very real possibility), then our options facing elimination are Eades who is proven he can't handle the big stage or Glenn who is coming off suspension and probably has rust. Not a pretty situation.
