Ma & pa got me some Hall & Oates tickets for my birthday a bit back and just got back from the concert here in Atlanta. I'm only a casual fan, and am only familiar with a portion of their songs, but I was still pretty disappointed that they were only on stage for an around an hour & 15 minutes (hour and a half, tops).

Is that really short? Is that the norm for over-the-hill musicians?

Gonna keep it to myself, because I thought it was a great gift. But damn, I felt a little let down with what I sat in some horrendous traffic for.

Added benefit is that at least I wasn't out super late when I have work tomorrow.

Mr. Big opened for Rush.

Mr. Big played about 5 songs....I thought that was waaay too long. Very disappointed.

But Rush was easily over two hours - that was great.

hour & 15

I would say that's about average. I saw Peter Murphy/ Bauhaus last month. Granted he is pushing 60 and jacked on meth, but he only played for an hour. It was a great hour but.....

I went to see Afroman one time at The Highlands in Auburn... I know... nothing big but I paid around $40 bucks to get in I think and he was on stage for all of about 15 minutes.

he was out in this big arse RV behind the building getting lit all night I'm sure

I think it was around 2003 when this happened, can't quite remember.

I wasn't as pissed like most of the crowd was but a lot of people were yelling and shite like that. Saw one good fight in there, but pretty much hazy on all the other details...

I was a college student at the time... a poor one

Edit: factor in my bar tab too so I guess that was what I was getting at.

that's pretty funny. I hope he played a 15 minute "Tall Cans." Hip hop shows are famous for stuff like this.

I mean there was a part of me that thought it was funny too... the crowd was pissed.

But I mean, what the frick are you going to do? I was drunk, so was pretty much everyone else in our group... we headed over to the Supper Club after that and wasted.

I think he just played Because I Got High... an extended version

could be wrong though...

90 minute sets for a headliner is fairly normal, depending on genre, venue etc

sadly, it's becoming the norm. but for a band with as many songs and hits as them to not be able to play for at least 100 minutes is kinda pathetic, IMO.

I could probably name a hundred examples, but it is what it is. The one i remember the most was primus at hangout a few years ago. They had an hour and 15 minute time slot, but only played like 55 minutes. Contrasted with ween later that night that kept checking their time so they could play as many songs as possible. They closed the show with golden eel, mollusck and ocean man on the beach. It was amazing.

Weird. I didn't notice the short Primus set.

Ween was great that afternoon. One of the most fun shows I've been to. It was a perfect beach set.

I can't stand when i'm at a concert (not a festival) and a band plays for an 1 1/2 hours.

Especially when it is a bigger band that you pay 60 bucks or more to see. frick that noise, this is why I enjoy jam bands so damn much. I've never been to a jam concert and it been less than 2 1/2 hours.

I took my ex to see Blue October and was very pleased when it ended after about an hour 10. But she wasn't happy, and we paid 50 bucks each for the tickets. Thats almost a dollar per minute, and it is bullshite.

Black Keys in The Woodlands should have been 2 sets, but it wasn't. I loved the concert, was disappointing in the duration.

This. Pretty standard.

I went to Hall and Oates on Sunday...it was 1:15. I actually thought it was shorter because I had so much fun, it seemed like it was over really quickly. I thought it was a great show and worth every penny.

P.S. They were in separate buses so I guess they still hate each other

Happened to me last night. Down's set from start to finish including intermission before the encore and Phil's rants was about an hour and 20 minutes. There was less than an hour of actual music.
