Like I said, it depends on who is available.
If we don't like anyone at 6, we can move back and at least not have to pay as much for a player we'll be disappointed in.

I get what you're saying, but I'm sure in 3 years we'll look back and see maybe 1 or 2 guys from spots 6-10 that are worthy of being "top 10" picks. If Demps can get the guy he wants at 9 or 6, why not drop back to 9 and add another Pondexter or Vasquez to the team? You don't do it to get more picks, you do it to get more picks while getting the guy you wanted all along.

It sucks because you won't find many allstars at the top of the draft, but trading back may give you 2-3 serviceable bench players as opposed to 1 slightly better bench player

Do we really need to be doing that?
I'd rather take the chance on starter/star quality.

This team has lots of backup quality players, I think. Just very few starters.

But then what happens if it ends up being another Julian Wright? We end up with nothing to show for in this draft. With 2-3 picks, you still have something to show for if one is a bust. Plus, I'm not planning on anyone we draft really being an immediate starter except for Porter. If we trade down and get Shabazz or someone like that, he'd probably be a bench player behind a mid level SF we draft in FA. So that way, you improve the bench play, which was why we were so bad this year, and you've got 2-3 chances that one of those players was a steal and pans out to be a great starter in the league

I somewhat agree with you. But we also only have about 2-3 quality backups on our bench

Hence, trade the pick.
That makes the opposite of sense unless you mean trade for veterans.

Well when you break it down by roster position, you're really just looking for starters at PG and SF. I think you can sign a starting SF and trade for a guy like Bledsoe. You can live with Lopez as a starter for now, especially because he will split minutes with the Davis/Anderson rotation.

Let me rephrase: Good, playoff quality starters.

You probably don't pay attention to what I say, but I've been saying to trade the pick for an established starter (DeMar DeRozan type) for the past couple of months.

Well its a bad offseason for that. Bad draft class and bad FA class

Which is why you have to make the most with what you've got. You take the player you think will be best at 6 unless you're getting a great deal for a very good vet.

Yeah, because the Raptors would do that

Is the 6th pick really that valuable?
I'd love the OKC trade. You could still end up with a guy like Saric or Zeller at 12
Like someone else said, it depends on who is there. But we're definitely a team that needs quality over quantity right now.
Yeah, we can get Saric or Zeller at 12 and get a couple of guys that will probably get cut within the next year, or we can stay at 6 and get Len or Shabazz (just using those two to compare to Zeller and Saric, who I both strongly dislike).

Jesus H.
For the umpteenth time. I said a DeRozan type player. Not necessarily DeRozan in particular. Ughhhhhhhh.

So you're saying DeRozan is not a DeRozan type player?
