There are several dicks in this movie. Achilles isn't one. Agamemnon and Paris are the main ones. Oh and Helen is a whore.

Hell yes I rooted for Achilles. He knew he would die if he fought in the war. He basically said, "Death, come at me bro. Everyone is going to know that I was the baddest mofo that ever lived, son!" Then he proceeded to wreck shite throughout the movie. He was also the only Greek who wouldn't kiss Agamemnon's arse, going so far to threaten him in his own tent.
Hector was a great warrior, worthy of respect. When he killed Patroclus, Achilles had to get in that arse. Not that there was any dishonor in what Hector did, he thought Patroclus was Achilles. But you can't blame Achilles for being pissed off at Hector about it. What Achilles did to Hector's body wasn't his finest moment, especially considering that he knew Hector was an honorable man. He did make amends for that after Priam went to his tent, though.
At the end, Achilles died to save the woman he loved. He was ready to leave Troy, and possibly have his name unknown to history, to be with Briseis. I feel he had pretty well redeemed himself of his sins by the end. He even apologized and kissed Eudoras before sending his men home, because he didn't want them to be a part of such wanton slaughter of innocent women and children.
Paris, Helen and Agamemnon are the real pigs of the story. Helen was a slut, and obviously she helped bring down all of Troy. Paris was the worst...not only was he a wife-stealing coward, but his role was the greatest in the destruction of Troy. He was a Prince of Troy, and he put his own selfish desires before the lives of all those he loved. May he find no rest in the bowels of Hades.
Serious bidness

raises hand
he is a dick and a primadonna, but he is much more interesting than any other character. he is one of the very few that doesnt have his head up his arse
to me, hector is the one that doesnt deserve much sympathy. he could save his city, his wife, and his son by returning helen. yet he chooses and keeps choosing to save his spoiled, childish brother.

I rooted for him because he delivers one of my favorite insults in movie history.
"You sack of wine!"

I wanted him to die as quick as possible so I could stop watching Pitt's overacting. And I'm not a Pitt hater

just to provide the morality play,
Achilles dies because he lacked compassion for Hector's corpse.
In the real story, no one escaped & Paris dies. Helen cries for forgiveness & shows her tits & is spared from death.
Also, all this trouble was started by Eris, who provided the "for the fairest" golden apple as payment for not being invited to the wedding. Paris chose Aphrodite who gave him Helen.
