Why is it that every productive and consistent NBA player is a GOAT?

I've only been a serious NBA fan the last few years but kept up with it casually for most of my life.
It seems that analysts and talking heads refer to every superstar as the GOAT in some different context.
For example, Derrick Rose is a GOAT at point guard.
Steph Curry is a GOAT when it comes to shooting.
Lebron James is the GOAT in all of basketball.
Rajon Rando is a GOAT when it comes to assists.
For another, see the Tim Duncan is a GOAT even over Shaq who is a GOAT.
Then there's Kobe, Durant, Ray Allen, Chris Paul, and even Dwight Howard.
I'm not just talking about MSB topics. This is fodder that I have heard on ESPN radio over the last two years. I can remember Chris Paul and Dwight Howard both being mentioned the same way - "Given the right situation, Dwight/Chris are in discussion for best we've ever seen at their position."
Why is the NBA littered with hyperbole?
Edit - I'm not saying none of these guys are in the discussion, but not all of them are. And it's silly to think that so many current players who are in the early to mid stages of their careers should be mentioned with the greats of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Because people enjoy discussing whether they're witnessing history at the moment.

When have these things ever been said?

Yeah seriously. Did you just make the majority of those up? No one has ever said drose was the best point guard ever, or rondo with assist, or even steph with shooting.
Best in one season does not mean best ever
Best in one season does not mean best ever

Because when you are 12 years old, you don;t bring much history to the table.
Give me Jordan, Bird, Russell, Wilt, Dr. J. etc to go along with Kobe, Lebron

This.
...and the younger generation dominating the internet with their lack of perspective and knowledge. Everything that is happening now is the GOAT. It's like how they think H.S. is so important.

No actually.
The NBA expert that comes on Mike and Mike mentioned the Derrick Rose bit.
Said that he had to come back to the Bulls when they were playing the Heat. If he was really 100%, they would have a good shot at competing in the series because Rose was "arguably one of the best point guards of all time."

Hoping this isn't a serious thread...
if it is...GOAT is like thug POS.
It's a clever thing to say
