Taking a position with the SEC. Hate to see him go, he did a great job here.

quote:

The Southeastern Conference announced today that Herb Vincent has been hired as Associate Commissioner for Communications for the conference
.

quote:

"Herb Vincent has served Louisiana State University magnificently,” Interim LSU President Dr. William Jenkins said. “I deeply regret losing him to the Southeastern Conference and I will miss him greatly. But this is a wonderful opportunity for him moving forward. He’s been superb. He is competent in every respect and has been responsive to our needs. We could not have had a more effective leader of our Communications and University Relations program. He could not have done more through some difficult times for this University and he was more than willing to handle whatever came up whether it was day or night. We wish him nothing but the best.”

quote:

"Herb’s contributions to LSU and his role in the accomplishments of the athletic department have been tremendous,” LSU Vice-Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said. “He’s been a great representative of LSU and we appreciate all that he’s done for this university. We wish him well on his new opportunity at the league office.”

quote:

“I am excited to join the SEC at a time when significant changes are taking place in college athletics,” Vincent said. “The level of excellence throughout the SEC is unparalleled and I am looking forward to working with the league staff and the 14 member institutions in continuing to build and promote the SEC brand.”

Damn, what a loss for LSU. A truly nice guy that represented LSU well. Hopefully he will be in a position to immediately fire the a-hole Gumptard that screwed us on the scheduling.

One of the finest men I have ever known. Truly a gentlemen. Naming your first born boy after him should be the law.

I like Herb but his decision to alter the images of the group of students that painted crosses on their bodies is something I and many others were angry about and I wanted him to resign over such an egregious decision.

He'll be back. Did this back in the 90's to get experience outside LSU

He'll come back as AD or some capacity when Alleva kicks it

It's a secret mission for LSU to have inside access to drop cross division opponents. Smart move LSU and Herb!!!

I wonder who made this decision? I guess it had to happen sooner or later. That office is loaded with gumps.

Now that the "token LSU guy" is there they can all say, "Hold on dere, coonasses. Wee gots one of y'all up here. We ain't doin no cheeatin!" Book it.

It's the equivalent of the RNC putting Mike Steele on tv to prove that Republican's "like the blacks"....I know, I know...it's a stretch. But I don't buy for one second that the SEC isn't influenced like hell or flat out run by Alabama.

In any case, give em hell, Herb!

Maybe we will get more favorable scheduling.

Great guy who, even though he's from Arkansas, became a full-fledged, purple and gold lovin' LSU Tiger. Known him since he was a freshman. Hope he will always be my friend. PLUS, he got my son and I field passes for a game. I'll miss that.

Herb is an asset to the athletic program at LSU. It truly is a shame to see him go but I understand his want to excel and bring his attitude and leadership to a higher power.

I used to love listening to Bob Broadhead, after he had gone a bit wacky and briefly had a radio show, when he would call him "Little Herbie" Vincent.

Yeah this was the buzz going around campus this morning for sure. Another person in a high up leadership position leaving.

Herb was a great guy and one of the few that connected very well with the fans and thats something LSU administration has been lacking for some time.
