Quite the conundrum for the movie "Taken"...

Do you think that in the movie "Taken" that Liam Neeson's character, considering the circumstances, was a little bit proud in a strange way that his daughter was the "prized" girl at the auction and raised so much money?
I mean, he did jack the auction price up himself, but there has to be other bidders in order for it to keep going up too.
