How much negotiating room do I have on the internet price of a Tacoma?

Looking to buy a Tacoma and they're not the cheapest. I'm having trouble getting dealerships to come down more than $1,000 - $1,200 from the internet price. I've only bought two vehicles before so I'm not very versed in the process. How much negotiating power do I have from the internet prices listed?

Advice from those who sell or have sold cars before would be GREATLY appreciated!

the internet price is typically a lower price than what they will actually sell the vehicle for. It's to get you in the door. They will say "That vehicle already sold" and will give you a higher price on a similar one.

good luck

Well I answered your question in the other thread but there is at max typically a couple grand. And if its a popular color combination even less because they will sell no matter what.

Dealers won't come down much on them but the good thing is the their resale is amazingly high. Your best bet to get them a little lower is to play dealers off one another and see of that gets you a little more off.

They usually have a vin listed on the Internet. You don't have much leverage on Tacomas unless it is a combination no one wants are next years models are coming out. With them, expect to pay close to list price.

My brother and I bought almost identical cars on the same day 1200 miles apart back in December

It just so happened that I live one of the Jeep Dealerships that's sells the most volume in the country. So we used it as a base price and window shopped while we were both home for Christmas. When talked to a local dealership where we grew up and he said he did not believe the price(so he called them.) sure enough they offered it for what they advertised.

Told us there was no way he could match it. We walk away and just plan to fly my brother back with me and buy from the dealership close to where I live.

Salesman calls my brother back a few hours later and gives it to him for the same deal I got.

Point is... Do some searching in the larger metro areas... and if you find a good enough deal... Don't be afraid to fly somewhere and pick it up

Make those bastards squirm. I'm much more wise to the ways of the world compared to the 5 years ago when I bought my car. I'm kind of looking forward to busting their balls. I'm wanting a VW Passat, possibly the TDI version. It's going to be a tough deal to get them to come down much.

I got mine for $29K walking out the door at about $32K with taxes and everything. 2013 TRD Sport crewcab. They are expensive. But this is what I was asking myself: What is the resale value? Great
Should I pay a little bit extra for the vehcile that I want? Yes. Will I keep it for a long time? Yes. Will they give me alot of problems down the road? Most likely no. These things last.

Piece of mind is worth a slight premium. The time and hassle of dealing with repairs is underestimated at the time you're buying.

Tacomas are high as giraffe pussy which is unfortunate because I want one however i'll most likely run the wheels off of it so I suppose long term it will be a good buy.

Yea its hard but sometimes you can work them into other stuff like an extra year of free oil changes and services. You can try to look at Tacoma World Forms. Sometimes they give you some good info on purchasing a new Tacoma. You are going to pay close to $30K for a nice one though.
