Why is Football so Much Bigger than Other Sports in the USA?

How has it just skyrocketed over the past 20 or so years to being the number one sport no question?
Is it just a much more marketable sport?
Are our attention spans just so much shorter nowadays so more people like the fast paced, fast action style of play during the plays?
For me, it's always been baseball>>>football.

Soccer is much bigger than football. Not sure what you're talking about.
I mean, what is there to like about a game that has the cumulative of 11 minutes of action per game?

Because the season is just the right length to where each game has inherent value. The playoffs are one and done and there is significant parity due to the salary cap and draft.

Because it's physical and fast paced.
Baseball is slower paced (although I still love it)
Basketball is too controlled by referees IMO and there's nothing they can do to change that.

Football in the South is bigger to begin with. My first year at Franklinton High School, we had one of the better basketball teams in the state and a shite football team and the football team was still more important.
Add in the fact that LSU has become really good at football with our fickle fanbase and you get the monster we have today.

Are you implying he's wrong? Actually he may be, it's probably less.

fantasy football combined with the fact that each game is meaningful but not heartbreaking. you need to win 10 games (pretty much, dont be a douche and argue this), but that means you can lose 6. so your team can lose a few and you can still have full 100% interest and hope.

Because its the best sport for television. Baseball is downright boring to watch on TV if you don't have a rooting interest. I've never been a big basketball fan, but I think that has more to do with me being from the South than the TV product.
