Here he is, the world's greatest acoustic guitarist (per Guitar Player magazine and Acoustic Guitar Player magazine)
I've seen him live and he puts on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Unbelievable talent!

he was in BR a year or two ago
My son and I went to see him at the Napa Valley Opera House this past February (sold out show...we were on row 4, about 25 feet from where he was standing). I'm still thinking about the show he put on.

John Fahey (1939-2001) was discovered as a teenager in the late '50s by the legendary record collector Joe Bussard (subject of the great documentary LINK ]Desperate Man Blues). Fahey specialized in roots music styles, which he sought to merge with classical techniques. He was a mentor to Leo Kottke, among others.
"Layla"
"Red Pony" (1969 TV appearance)
"Steamboat Gwine Round Da Bend" (lap style video clip)
"In Christ there is no East or West"
How to play "In Christ There Is No East Or West", taught by John Fahey (video)

I got to see Emmanuel in Mountain View, Arkansas a couple of years ago. Absolutely blew my mind.

He is obviously talented but I wouldn't want to see the show twice. He can play really fast and enjoys doing that for 90 minutes if that's your thing.

He should be shunned for what he has done to Classical Gas. Horrible.

Not quite. Chet Atkins said many times that TE was the best guitar player he had ever seen. I would think Chet knows

Here's Tommy doing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'.

He's been on my list for a few years now but so far haven't gotten a chance to see him. If he's not the best on acoustic, he's right up there.
