I personally don't like the rule (I've never been able to connect a time out with gaining territory at all), but I've never cared enough to gripe about it.
It does create excitement, even if it does eliminate part of the full-court concept.
I would prefer college to not adopt the rule, but I have heard rumblings of just that in the past. If they did, I would eventually find a way to get over it.

I'm going for the pacers you dumbass. Look at my sig pic. Paul George got the same half court rule also. You are the worst at sports anyway

I thought this was a joke about bitching about the rule but these slapdicks are serious. This is getting more funny each thread

in my 9+ years on this site i don't think i've ever seen people bitch about this rule...until tonight
I have. I hate this rule. It's beyond stupid. But I pretty much hate every rule in the last two minutes of a basketball game, and how a team can gain advantage by fouling. It's not basketball. But that has really nothing to do with tonight. It's been the rule forever, it's ridiculous, but it's not like anyone didn't know it going in.
But it's still an f'n terrible rule. That will never change.

Some people just don't like the rule. It doesn't have to be about Lebron.

Running out of bounds at the end of a half stops the clock completely. running out of bounds in the middle of a half stops it until the whistle.

I kind of agree. I understand wanting to create drama. If the NBA wants that then they might as well make it to that if you foul a player when they are down by three in the final seconds (just to prevent them from launching a three) that they should be rewarded three free throws you know just to keep the game dramatic. This is sarcasm but I agree advancing the ball really does not make sense.

The biggest atrocity of a rule in sports is the 35 second shot clock in men's college basketball.

had nobody yet pointed out that this is wrong?
Posted on 5/23/13 at 9:13 am to Baloo
I mainly hate it because it manufactures moments like lastnight, feels cheap.
Then again, I'm a bit hypocritical because for years I've wanted the NFL to stop the clock after first downs inside 2 minutes to provide for more exciting endings.

No, I'm actually just pointing out a fairly moronic rule.

It's ludicrous that a team can advance a ball that far just by calling timeout.

If the Heat lost, this thread would not exist. This thread was not created when the Pacers took advantage of the rule the play before.

I've actually wanted to start a similar thread for a while. It really is a dumb rule
Posted on 5/23/13 at 11:34 am to LSUGrad9295
It's a great rule creates tons of game winning opportunities. I wish college would do the same.
