re: What a joke...calling a timeout in the NBA allows you to advance the ball 65 ft.

Oh if the rule's always been shitty, why the hell bring that up now? Why not before?

Link me to where I give a shite about the Pacers...
I do agree, there are many shots in NBA history that wouldn't have happened due to this dumb rule...and every time I see one, I think "what a bunch of bullshite". Another one that comes to mind is the one the Lakers hit years ago (was it Derrick Fisher maybe?) against the Spurs when they had like .0000000000002 seconds left and won. That should never have happened. Great drama? I guess...kinda shitty that a team had to lose to that.

For the 30th time...tonight just illustrates how bad the rule is. I am a casual fan, at best. I watch very few games. This just happens to be the game that I saw tonight. I know there are millions of other examples that could be cited...but I didn't see those games. I saw the game tonight.

Why is it bad? Does it take away from the game? You do realize it saves games from being defensive snooze fests at the end right?

It's done in college as well. Quit crying.
Explain this. Pretty sure you don't watch much college hoops.

For me? I don't care enough about the nba to think about this.
The only time I think about it is during my middle school games which have a similar rule. It's absolute BS but I'm always having to pocket a TO for the end of a game...

Both benefited equally at the end. . .therefore it was a nonfactor

I am not sure I follow. It is bad because it randomly gives a team positioning on the court that they did not earn. Can you imagine an NFL team calling a timeout in the final 2 minutes of a game, then being awarded an extra 30 yards, just for calling a timeout?
I would have loved to see the Heat figure out a way to go the length of the court with 2.2 seconds left. shite...if college had that rule, Hill to Laettner never would have happened....

Now I know you're being contrarian by comparing football to basketball

I am not disputing that. I agree with it. Neither team should have that advantage.

Neither team should have that advantage.

It isn't a bad analogy...
Why should calling a timeout allow you to advance closer to your basket? (or in the football example, the other team's goal line?)

Tonight illustrates why it is a rule. Last second shots that have a decent chance are more entertaining and good for the league.
If you don't like it, fine, but it is pretty easy to understand.

Im just saying neither team should be able to move the ball forward just for the act of calling a timeout.
