Just finished it. It was a good game, but no where close to 10/10 like that picture shows in OP's post.

Yeah, maybe it was because it was so hyped, it didn't meet my expectations, idk. My biggest issue with it was the average stealth aspect. It cool to have stealth in the game the way they did, but it felt like they didn't put enough work in the mechanics. I could just make bombs and molotovs all day and wipe out room after room.

The one above normal , not survival. I played on normal through Pittsburgh then bumped it up a notch.

Survival is above hard.
As far as the swimming goes ,its not like they had the means. Based on the times with the sequence change they woild have been able to swim in the summer,spring, fall maybe, winter is out for obvious reasons. Fall they were out in the forest and time seemed a premium. Spring , ellie just hacked David to pieces and Joel just got impaled.
I think you may be overestimating the time they had to learn swimming while on the run from infected, military, and ambushes.
