she waived her rights. That isnt diminishing anything but her and her lawyer's intelligence.

I don't think she did...or at the very least it's not as open and shut as you present it....and I was responding to a specific post which clearly was justifying that specifically.

That is not what he was referencing. He was replying to a post that basically says : we want this because "they" did / do it to us

It was a separate post idea from the main OP

Yay, let's play retributive politics by diminishing the 5th!

Either she waived the 5th or she didn't. Thats a question of law that a judge will decide. There is no diminishing of the 5th. Seems you are the one playing politics. Funny....I bet you aren't worried about diminishing some of the other pesky Amendments.

That does NOT fit in with my reply above. Kindly remove your post so I don't look silly.

Opinions are generally mixed. I don't think she should have read the statement declaring her innocence.

One major difference between congressional testimony and criminal proceedings is that in the latter instance, you aren't compelled to testify. If she had failed to appear before Congress, she would have been held in contempt. Selective invocation seems appropriate to me in this case.

It would seem that all of this might come down to her being recalled and failing to appear resulting in contempt charges which will provide delicious irony given Rex's earlier thread regarding the two "scoundrels" who stiffed John Conyers' subpoena to appear

I think he had to go chase some cars, crap in the neighbors grass or there might be a dog in heat down the street.

Like I said before. If Bush did it, it's evil. If Obama does it, it's ok.

I was once on a 2 month grand jury that was investigating corruption.

Several witness' pled the fifth and That's it. Nothing else. You don't say ANYTHING.

Question here is if the same rule applies to congressional testimony. If there is not precedent, probably something a Federal court has to decide.

Don't feel like going back and checking.... But did you just "Boom" Rex?

Let me guess, as many have called it, he was completely opposite on his arguments when Bush was in office?

i don't get why they dont bring in the "low level" workers and have them testify and work your way up from there. i think doing it that way would expedite the process of who really initiated this, implemented it and oversaw it.

This really isn't about politics or at least not what I see. I don't give a frick about this woman. IMO I think she and Miller and that other former head (the bush guy) clearly weren't up front when they initially testified in that they didn't disclose everything they knew.

So now hat she's been caught possibly perjuring herself, doesn't she have the 5th Amend right not to testify?

I don't know. I don't do criminal. You do. I'm asking.
