BoB was based on a single source. The Pacific was an amalgam of stories.

Both of my grandfathers were in the Pacific. One in the Navy and the other in the Marines.

The bad news is you just watched what I consider the best t.v. series (mini or regular) ever. You won't find anything better IMO.

The good news is there are plenty of other real good series out there. Not sure which you've watched so I won't name a bunch but a few of my favorites:

Lonesome Dove (sometimes I put it 1-A)
Rome
Game of Thrones

Oh, and it looks like from your Screen name your not from La. If you ever get down to N.O. go to the D-Day/WWII Museum. That place is great.

Set aside a decent amount of time, it is a lot to take in. But well worth it.

D-Day / WWII Museum is awesome.

My grandfather is 87 and a marine. We took him a few years ago. He fought on Okinawa. He was able to tell us a lot about what it was like out there.

BoB and the Pacific are 2 great series.

This right here.

I would suggest reading some more great stories that came out of that war. Go find "Unbroken" and give it a read. Amazing.

I like your taste in film/tv. I have Lonesome Dove and GOT wayy up there too, but BoB is the greatest thing I've ever seen. Action, drama, and the true brotherhood developed between the characters was just amazing.

That wasn't what made it better.

BoB allowed you to get emotionally invested in the characters. The Pacific really didn't. Thats more of a function of the Wars than the series. The Pacific was a vastly different war than the war in Europe. I thought the Pacific did a fantastic job of really bringing that the life.

I think not jumping around from plot to plot and seeing every character nearly every episode is WHY you are allowed to get emotionally invested in the characters. The Pacific jumped around too much. Oh and the annoying kid from Jurassic Park was so annoying and whiny. Just wanted him to die.

Well put. To this day, Bob is the best thing i've ever seen on TV.
