I agree. That's fricking backwards if you can't hold a job.

Depending on the size and scope of services I have been recommending either ADP or Pinnacle Payroll Solutions.

We use Alliance payroll and are pretty pleased with them.

That doesn't help me get my DL back. All states are reciprocal reporting now. And my kids are here. It's a damn shame that you can get 3 DWI's and still drive. But owe the state money, and you are SOL.

It was my understanding that the state would have to get a court order to suspend your license, and if you need a DL to earn an income, it's hard to imagine a Judge impeding your ability to find gainful employment to pay back taxes.

Maybe I'm wrong

If the LDR offered you on a payment plan, why not borrow a couple thousand so you can get square with them, get your DL back and start working again?

Louisiana State Law. One of like 3 states that passed a law to do this.

with $200 of disposable income a month, who is going to loan him the money? Western Sky?

I think the IRS is sometimes willing to remove liens for a small period in order for people to obtain financing, no idea if LDR would be willing to do the same. That place is a big cluster frick so I have my doubts

Because I can't afford the ONLy payment plan they offered, which is $3200 down and $1100/month for 60 months.

I might have misunderstood, but I thought you said you were about to get a job paying 80K.

$1100 a month is pretty steep, but it doesn't sound like you have any options here.

I have accepted job, BUT, the whole process is held up bc I don't have a DL. Likely scenario is that I will lose the job.

Under certain circumstance, taxes can be discharged in bankruptcy (do you own Google search).

If you qualify -- or even if you can qualify in the future, this could give you some leverage in negotiating a deal with the state. Go to them, make them an offer that you can live with, and then tell them that if they don't accept your offer you'll be forced to file for bankruptcy and have the entire debt discharged.

So the OP hasn't moved to a non-extraditing country yet?

Could the OP sue his wife saying marriage assets and liabilities at divorce weren't calculated correctly as the tax liability wasn't included in the divorce settlement? And get some assets from her to pay it down. Or could the tax judgment from both TGSOL and the IRS be split evenly and billed to both as they were married from when the taxes weren't paid? Unless the OP assumed all unkown liabilities with the business in the divorce, I could see an argument for this. I'm not an expert, just a thought.

I am contemplating this. But if my taxes aren't included I will have filed BK just to get my DL.
