Stopped after the second season.

If I do start back up, I will rewatch the second season and continue from there.

It was slow and felt like it was dragging on, so I dropped it to watch other shows.

Thanks for any advice.

If you want to watch it, watch it... If you don't want to watch it then don't.

Make it to the 3rd season ad you'll be very happy you did. 3rd leading into the 4th is where it really hits its stride IMO.

It's a good show. Peggy is not as ugly in seasons 3 and beyond.

IWHI, but if you think about it I bet it's pretty hostile territory in the downstairs area, what with the casual flings and the abortion.

It goes in cycles. Sometimes moving quickly, sometimes not. I didn't get into it until a few years ago and haven't yet gone back to see the seasons I missed. I'vee seen a lot of people say they started it but stopped, I wonder if I'd have had the same reaction.

I will say this, I wouldn't recommend trying to binge watch it. Watch an ep every other day or every few days and let them breathe. Each episode is meant to be a short story unto itself. Approaching it that way has helped me pick up on things I may not otherwise have picked up on.

There is still, obviously, interconnectivity between the episodes. But it's easy to see why a character may disappear for episodes at a time, only to reappear later. They're only there to tell that episodes story, and if they don't serve that story, they're not mentioned.

I don't know if this will actually convince you to give it another shot, though.

To me it is a fascinating show...

Great characters and the fact that the 60s are used as a vehicle to the story keeps my attention...

To each their own... I cant seem to get into Game of Thrones. I jsut tell my freind to text me when a nude scene starts up and I quickly change the channel to watch. lol

You made it longer than me. I only made it thru three episodes and turned it off.

I made it through 2 seasons, realized I absolutely despised every single character on the show and stopped watching. I don't miss it.

My favorite show on tv right now with Thrones coming in a close second. It's not for everyone but I love it. If you need a lot of action and crazy scenes, it's not for you

i only made it to episode 5 in season 1 when i decided it wasn't for me but these type of comments always make me chuckle

if it takes that long to "hit it's stride" it is not a good show. i'll give it that some shows don't hit their stride til end of season 1 or sometime during season 2 but anything further than that has to be considered a failure. i am not singling out this show this is just something that bugs me because it's been told to me about numerous shows that are popular. I've been told keep going it gets real good in season 3 or something to that effect, so you mean i gotta go through 2 shitty seasons to get to 1 good one? inefficient use of time

I love Mad Men but I completely understand why others would think it's too slow-moving.

If you've given it a fair number of episodes and it still hasn't engaged you, then the show isn't for you.

I didn't say the first two seasons were bad, I just said down the stretch of season 3 is where I really started to connect and hit its stride.

Strongly disagree. Parks and Rec is a perfect example. Seasons 1 and 2 were trying very hard to copy the Office model. I didn't enjoy it at all. I started watching again about a season and a half ago and it's one of my favorite shows. They let the characters develop instead of trying to force them.
Just Bc a show takes a season or two to figure it out doesn't mean it should be dismissed.

i didn't say that, in fact i specifically said i get that some take a season or 2 to hit their stride.

i didn't mean to single out your post or this show you just hit on something that i was told about other shows that just made no sense to me. if a 5 season show doesn't hit it's stride til sometime in season 3 then it doesn't seem worth the time being that only half the show is worth watching. (not talking about this show)

eta: however, if it is a long running series like 7 or over and it doesn't get strong til 3 i can deal

etaa: parks and rec season 2 was good ands season 1 was just like 5 episodes
