Seems like all of their major sports are trending down.

Baseball just finished last in the Big 12 which is unbelievable to me. Basketball played in the CBI this past season. In the last 3 years, football is under .500 in conference.

With as much money and resources as that school has they should be competitive every year.

All of these coaches' seats should be extremely hot.

Barnes makes 2.4 million.
Brown makes 5.1 million.
Garrido makes 900k.

Barnes has never been a great coach - he had Durant and that overvalued his worth - Brady outcoached him in NCAA tourney.

Baseball is mystifying to me - I guess its time for Garrido to hit the road. In a watered down Big 12 that is unacceptable to not make Big 12 or NCAA tourney.

Football, Mack Brown it might be BCS or bust this year for him.

exactly. I really don't think they care as much as people think if they're still raking in the money

Really? That's amazing and somone should be fired. There is no way Iowa State or WVU should have a better baseball program than Texas.

...correction. Iowa State does not have a team. My point still stands.

He cares about the money, and it will take an extended period of failure for them to lose money. Especially with ESPN propping them up.

Those kids playing football at Alabama really aren't appreciating those back-to-back national titles.

No wonder why Mack, Barnes and Augie still have jobs.

I was thinking when I saw Texas so high in recruiting this morning.. If I were a high ranked Texas high school kid, would I want to go to Texas anymore?

With as many DUIs as Garrido has, it's never a good time for him to hit the road.

DeLoss will be retiring soon but not sure that fixes anything. The strange Cal-Berkeley wannabe culture still infiltrates many corners of UT.

I'm holding out hope the football program has turned the corner. Seem to be the B12 favorite this season.

Baseball and basketball. Hopefully some changes with DeLoss' departure.

It may be time for Texas and Barnes to split. Seems like Barnes can recruit pretty well, but they don't do much as a team IMO.

The reasoning behind this thread does make me ask, do we make too much of UTs natural advantages?

Sure, they have a lot going for them, but is it really that much more than everyone else has?

I think Texas should be stronger in football considering the importance of football in the state. Sure they recruit well within the state, but they should be a national power nearly every year. As for basketball, I think we make too much of their natural advantages. I don't know much about UT baseball.
