Anytime I see some shitty eBay customer driving down the road with his terrible projectors that he thinks are brighter because he put an HID kit in them I just laugh. The beam pattern on those is abysmal.
The only other company that makes good aftermarket projectors is The Retrofit Source. Besides that, factory is the way to go.
And to the OP, I throw my vote in for #2.

Agree. I put some real good ones in my Vette, but I spent $1300.
