Depends on what you hunt it with. If you go after one with a Swiss army knife, then you got a Trophy IMO.

Yep. I would definitely kill a lion if given the opportunity.

I'd find much more pleasure in watching them alive, doing what lions do, than dead.

Lion tacos ftw.

There was a OT thread about a place in Miami selling them.

Here's a pretty good expectation of what could happen.

Oddly enough, A lion is one of the few things I would want to shoot in Africa. I want a lion mount similar to the ones at the Cabela's in B.R. The fact that I am shooting a cat....is just a bonus.
<<<<<<------Does not like cats.

I doubt you can get the meat "home" from a game animal anyway and it is my understanding that the meat from the game animals is "donated" to the tribes. So, the hide is really all you can take with you from your hunt. Lion Mount > Wildebeest Mount

My Uncle used to hunt Africa, he's killed tons of animals including a leopard and an elephant (him and his hunting buddy shot in self defense). The lion had always eluded him though, every year he would go just to track lions and passed on a couple that weren't the trophy he was looking for. Last time he went, his party got surrounded by lions and he swore he'd never come back. Of all the great animals he's takin he says nothing compares to a lion, the excitement and challenge puts it in a class of its own. It's you against him, battle of the ultimate prediter. That being said he always hunts free roam animals, using his skills to track them instead of just baiting them in like so many hunters there do.

Yeah, same here. I'm even that way with bears now. Watching this "Great Bear Stakeout" in Disco now, its awesome.

Used to do a little guiding, but lost my taste for it. I'd rather watch them do what they do.

I always wanted to hunt lions and brown bears.
I get a nut hunting hogs with dogs or stalking them in thickets and swamps and have shot several at point blank range while charging.

to hunt a lion is not easy. we all hunt deer because we grow up around it and to hunt something so different is a honor to me. think to yourself how many lions have actually been killed by someone you know? im sure not many people even know someone that has conquered such a feat.

its not as easy as going to st francisville and shooting a deer.

not to mention its cost a shitload of money. but i know a guy that has went to africa and shot over 100 animals and has about 10 world records in his name. he does it for the love of hunting nothing else

I agree. I see pictures of friends killing giraffe and zebra - who wants to hunt friendly animals you can't eat?

I still hunt bears, but with a camera. Just get more pleasure watching them in their own environment.
