I mean, I understand Pulmonary's thinking going into today. Give my second line guys a long look and instill some confidence. Mission accomplished. Give a few guys who normally don't pitch on SEC weekends a look. Mission partially accomplished, the exception is I'm Your HuckleBerry. However, as a competitor, I don't understand why you don't PH Bregs or Katz with the tying/winning runs on base in the bottom of the ninth. What's the harm?

What happens when you need a pinch hitter in a clutch situation late in a postseason game? Gonna throw Chinea in there and not give him experience in those situations first?

Rhymes and Katz played the 1st they couldn't pinch hit.

Decent point. It's always nice to get experience with clutch potential game winning plate appearances.

1) Katz already played

2) Mainieri was on his way to CHS' graduation in the 9th inning. Javi was acting head coach.

3) Mainieri had a solid SS at Notre Dame and he got hurt in a meaningless final game of the regular season.

4) The outcome of this game was meaningless (it literally had no meaning) for LSU.

Also, how would you feel if they had pinch hit Bregs and he gets hit on the hand and breaks it, out for the postseason

Katz started and was removed. He cannot re-enter the game. Game meant nothing, let the other guys try and get the win.

By sitting everyone, Coach M established at the outset that this game meant dick to him. Why would he or his staff make a strategic move in the bottom of the 9th when he already made it clear that he didnt give a shite?

Decide beforehand whether or not you're playing 100% to win - and then stick with it. Otherwise you do do disservice to the guys you are playing, or to the guy coming cold off the bench in that situation.

Also, if you win - great. If you lose, OM should not get much credit because it wasn't against the regular starters the whole game.

Came in a bit late. Didn't realize Katz and Rhymes were used in the first. Not using Bregs because of fear of a broken hand or otherwise on a HBP, though? Nah. I'm not upset, just don't like losing to the Piss.

Mainieri had a player at Notre Dame get hurt in a game just like the one today and miss the postseason.

The best thing about today is even though Berry had an ERA below 1 Mainieri knows for certain he can't use him in a high pressure situation in the postseason. Even though the fans already knew that.

So yeah LSU lost and Berry sucks.. But that's a win for the futre.

I think Mainieri already knew that though.

Russian

So, a guy gets hbp at Notre Dame and Bregs is. Again, I'm not upset. I just would've liked to have seen that bit of drama. Also, I'm not 12.

Why risk it though in a game that means absolutely nothing?

Because Overbey flipped his bat twice. That's solid logic right there.

He used Berry a lot this weekend. Mainieri was giving him a chance.

He gave everybody a chance this weekend, but I'm fairly certain he has known who he can and can't count in a postseason situation for a while now.
