I honestly don't think this is going to deter those people who enjoy just one or two drinks at dinner, worrying about whether they're .046 or .056.

Contrary to the article, I don't foresee people cutting back on beverage consumption just because of this new (bill/law).

If you cannot leave an establishment with .051, we may as well revert to prohibition for frick sake.

These are one of the times when I wish Frank Zappa was still with us.

This issue however, doesn't bother me as much as the fact that 18 year olds cannot drink legally. I know this may be a politically charged subject, but this is a food and drink forum.

.051 is not the root of highway deaths IMO.

Would taxi companies benefit from this proposed legislation?

Absolutely.

Both taxis in Baton Rouge.

It drives me nuts to not have mass transportation as an option.

Took a cab for the bulldog the other night and discussed this with the driver. They are working out the details of an iPhone app like Houston has.

The app in Houston as made caps a millions times better so hopefully BR figures it out.

DUIs are a great revenue generator. That's one of the motivating factors here.

To hell with 'em.

I say if you're going to drop it to .05 then the penalty needs to be a slap on the wrist with no jail time

Around 10,000 of the 30,000 annual road deaths in the US are due to drunk drivers. The Feds and MADD think that dropping the limit will reduce this number. Unfortunately, bad drivers are even worse drivers when they're buzzed or drunk which ruins the party for all of us who know how to drive whether we've had 1 or 3 pints.

To add, having a DD or convenient cabbie service is the shizzle.

I always thought there should be degrees of dui's.

If you're driving poorly and blow .05, tow the car, make them catch a cab/friend and pay the tow fee and basic moving violation ticket.

I don't favor drunk driving (I'm willing to take a courageous stand, brah), but .05 is a fricking joke. A politically motivated bad joke. And don't get me started on police procedure.

.1 was already fricking ridiculous. Someone needs to get shot over this.

DUI's handled professionally and inexpensively.
