West Monroe. I'm just thinking back to how bad that whole thing was. Though I hadn't seen him much lately at the time, I knew him when we were younger--our mothers were best friends. I was sick to my stomach for the rest of the game. I visited him in the hospital that week and that was brutal too. Just a terrible situation. And he survived. I can't imagine what the Farmerville family is going through. Prayers to everyone involved.

A lot of things like this go unnoticed and untold to the public. In my mind, that is the true definition of a donation

I've always considered character to be what you do when no one is looking. To me this shows the type of character he has and speaks volumes for those who helped him develop into the type of person he is.

I'm just glad the young mans family was able to find a little bright spot in what has to be an unbelievably tough situation.

They performed a good deed by donating his organs and giving someone else a chance at life even though they lost one and in return they were rewarded for their generosity.

I might have to close my door b/c the pollen in my office is getting pretty bad.

Not that it matters one bit, but was the deceased player a college prospect?

I'm been here since '98. This is very rough on some of my coworkers that are related to jaleel. As I understand was a very kind and respectable kid a lot of people speak very high of him. Yes a real sad week here.

This family also made the decision to donate Jaleel's organs. This act of un-selfishness may have saved as many as 7-8 lives. Very sad situation.

I'm usually not a grammar Nazi, but you might want to read over your last post. Third sentence preferably.

"Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me...."

Although not at all his motive, Mr. Whitworth will receive his just reward for this truly incredible, unsolicited act of kindess.

There are plenty of people with ties to this community that have $10,000 to spair. Mr. Whitworth was apparently the one and only that stopped what he was doing, and really thought about the situation.

Although the focus should be on the child that lost his life - I'm sure Mr. Whitworth would want that - think, for a moment, of Whit's thought process:

1. Wow, how unbelievabley tragic. A child died playing a game.
2. His family may not have the means to bury him.
3. The child died playing a game that has been exceedlingly good to me.
4. I'm a man of means.
5. I'll reach out to this family, and offer help.
6. I'll ask them to please let no one know about this.

We joke about doing thigs "like a boss" around here. THAT's doing it like a boss.

God, this pollen is terrible in my office as well.

It is special, but if he asked her not to out him for this, she should have honored that.

i dont think it matters, no way they are thinking with clear heads right now. Sometimes when gratitude overwhelms people, they dont know how to properly show it and thats fine by me

All you hear is about the negative stuff college players and former players get into, these are the things that go unnoticed but the vast majority of LSU and former LSU players far outweight the few that get in trouble

Mr. Whitworth understands the meaning of "to much is given, much is expected". a real class act move to help others in need at a terrible time.

I absolutely love reading about former LSU players who do selfless acts such as this. Whit is a hero in this family's eyes.
