Then second season of Jordan retirement Pippen led team in scoring, assist, rebounding, minutes, and steals until Jordan returned for 17 games

Yep, and Carmelo Anthony has better averages as the focal point of the offense.

Look, Scottie Pippen was great. Everyone knows this. But, comparing him to Carmelo Anthony as players just doesn't work. Sure, they played the same position, but they were asked to do different things.

It is TOTALLY different when a team looks for YOU to be THE GUY to take that last second shot.

Pippen didn't have that burden for his career, so you people dogging Melo is just foolish.

Carmelo has never averaged over 4 APG

Scottie averaged 5.2 for his career including his shitty years. He's also a superior rebounder.

So Carmelo scores more (and shoots more) and that means he is better? Even though when Pippen became the "man" he led his team in all statistical categories, but his scoring wasnt as high so not as good?

Pippen did his scoring averaging 17.8 shots a game,
Carmelo's first two seasons he was around that avg and his scoring numbers looked like Pippens.

Pippen is a better overall player and your arguments are futile.

Everyone agrees the Melo is the better scorer.

Again? Carmelo and Pippen had the same DEFENSIVE rebounding averages for their career, and their range is almost EXACTLY identical.

Are we not including assists in this discussion? Was the question about Prime Pippen vs Prime Melo? Then Scottie rebounding is the winner. Plus Melo hasn't gotten to his twilight phase to bring all those averages down.

Do YOU know ANYTHING about the game of basketball??????? So by YOUR logic... Melo is better than Lebron because he is a pure scorer and that is ALL it takes to be better than another player......

Their defensive rebound percentages are similar. Just stop. I'm not even looking at Pippen's "twilight years".

Their rebounding averages are identical at 6.4 for their careers. Melo's will most certainly come down from that.

Please dude you're being foolish

I never said that. I just think it is funny that everyone in this thread seems to disregard offensive production.

As for defense, of course Pippen was the better defender. But, why don't you look at some of Carmelo's defensive stats before you start acting like he is not in the same league as Pippen.

Where in this thread have I said that Pippen was a better scorer than Pippen????? He was/is.........

But the OTHER parts of the game overweigh what Meo has done by being a ballhog shooter......

Pippen was a COMPLETE player. Melo is NOT. Its just A FACT...........

defensive win shares, not in the same league.

Hell, WS/48, Pippen has better numbers as well.
