Most say you can get more out of the 5.0.

Well, sure. The 3.5 already has twin turbos. Add twins to the 5.0 and you are looking at over 600 hp. That's a hair over the 3.5.

Well, that makes a hell lot more sense. However, I think the 6.2 still makes better numbers supercharged. Granted, it has a 70 hp head start but that's huge. I believe the numbers from procharger put the 6.2 well over 500 and the 5.0 around 450.
On phone so I can't (won't) pull up the website but I will tomorrow.

My 5.0 dynoed 488hp at the wheels with a fairly conservative tune fwiw. Havent got it on a dyno with this race tune but I can say the on road performance between the 2 tunes is night and day. So i would guess im easily over 500 at the wheels currently.

Just looked up the numbers. Procharger claims 65% increase on the 5.0 and, 60% on the 6.2. That's over 650 on the 6.2 and 575 on the 5.0 (if I used the right numbers for the 5.0).
That 70 head start that the 6.2 has is the key. Procharger's numbers are very high too.

That definitely makes more sense, never understood where people were getting that from. I dont know shite about tuning engines, I just know parts/assembly. But I had heard a time or two that the 5.0 was more tuner/blower friendly, and thus you could get more out of it. Whatever the frick that means

All about compression. Low is good for tuning but high is more responsive to boost. At least that's what I recall. BIL just opened one of the largest speed shops in the nation in Lake Charles. Gonna give him my 6.2 later this year to play with.

If he wants a 5.0 to play with you should hit me up

They have all the 5.0 Mustangs they can handle. He just had his grand opening at the new shop the other day and they haven't stopped yet. Granted, they had a nice shop in NLA but this one is just much much larger. I can pass along his info if anybody needs help or advice.

I just want performance hook ups for real cheap

By far the cheapest route you can go, but still get noticeable/fun performance upgrade is through a simple tune. These engines come from the factory with their nuts in a vise.

Yeah just waiting on warranty to run up. Got like 8000 miles left.
What are some good tuners for the 5.0?

Mike at 5star has a great reputation.
Eta: also as far as the actual tuner I like the SCT X3. Most places offer up to 3 free tunes with the purchase of the device.

Buddy of mine has a stock block supercharged 5.0. Just ran a 9.6 at state capital drag way the other weekend.

Dayum, I've heard 10's before but not 9's. You know what he's running as far as blower (roush, kenny bell, etc), pulley size, headers, torque converter? And also is this a 2 or 4wd?
