When facing union oyster house, to the left is bell in hand tavern, i believe it self proclaims to be the oldest tavern in the us (and also has my favorite chowder)
Behind it there is usually a farmers/fishermans market where you can get fresh shucked oysters very cheap.

I believe Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop on Bourbon St claims that title also. From the condition of the restroom I'll vote on Lafitte's.
