He badly misplayed a ball in the series finale against Florida that cost two runs. I thought we learned our lesson about playing middle infielders in the outfield last year.

No. Just refuting the he catches everything line. Also his center field against stony brook last year set defensive baseball back 50 years. he isn't an outfielder. He is a hitter though.

I've seen it happen more than once. It's obvious Mainieri is going to go with defense in the OF over offense.

I meant for the other two OF spots obviously.

And thinking ahead, the new park in Omaha plays very big. It's more like the Hoover Met. Defense and pitching is going to win you games there.

What if lack of offense keeps us out of Omaha?

I never said I agreed with it, FWIW. But it's obvious what his thinking is.

You're watching LSU in higher scoring games than what you're going to see in Omaha and maybe the Supers.

The games that will decide the champion are probably going to be 2-1 scores, not 5-4. Defense will be vital. There is a huge difference between the outfield play of Stevenson and Foster.

I say play Stevenson.

Best point yet.

In the old bats, Foster is likely starting, with the new bats, defense is at an absolute premium. Just look to our most recent losses. Most have been due to unearned run(s) coming off error(s).

Since Rhymes will not be out at DH, you need to have your best outfielders who can actually hit out there. Stevenson isn't ready. Laird hasn't been great lately either. IMO, Foster should be out there before either of them.

Why can't McMullen play right and Foster DH?

Do you think Stevenson starts the rest of the year at center?
