Any recommendations where I can bring my daughter to catch trout or redfish without a boat. Is the fishing pier open in Slidell? What about on the side of the road on the way to Grand Isle? TIA

yes the pier is open but I haven't been out there. The little inlet that leads from the lake to villa do lac apartments and lakeshore estates right by the twinspans is also solid for trout/redfish. I've caught pretty much everything over there, though, from sharks to catfish to stingrays to gar. All just depends on the bait. I had some nice pinfish I caught with my cast net and caught a couple large reds last summer. Good luck.
