Or if he had not overthrown receivers by a foot or two on the long passes that were open?

I would say around 3300 or so. I am not sure if these problems will get fixed for this year, but the offense was inches away from being explosive last year. Hopefully, another year in the system with better coaching for everyone will get us to a place of real productivity.

The taller receivers should help in the red zone as well, where we REALLY struggled.

Fix the red zone, catching, and overthrowing the long ball and this is a really dynamic offense - and everyone of those problems are just inches away from fixing.

He probably lost anywhere from 300-500 yards passing from those dropped passes. So add that to his total.

Hijack poll:

Over/Under for the number of times Mett falls straight on his face in this up-tempo offense with his stone heavy legs.

i would go with the 300-500 mark like a poster said for dropped balls. Then you would have to take in account the down and distance, and if it would have extended drives. So it is really hard to tell.

I don't think you understand how much I lift, bro. Secondly, I knocked on wood about the fall-on-face thing, but have you seen this man roll-out of the pocket?!?

You have to consider, too, that with those passes being completed, drives would have been extended and perhaps, the complexion of games would have changed as well. Most of the drops were the first part of the season, so how would catching the ball then have changed the overthrows that occurred over the past part of the season so regularly? It got to where Mett could not complete a pass downfield hardly at all. I think that the struggles early on probably got to him.

The offense had talent last year, but it was fragile psychologically. Hoping for better things this year so that all of the pressure is not on our young, but talented defense.

23 passes were dropped after the 1st 6 games of the season, so you could be right.

everyone is so obsessed with yardage gained. i much prefer time of possession and points scored as indicators of a quality offense. of course, games won is the best but that takes defense and special teams also. isolating yardage as the ultimate measure of an offense is garbage.

You mean, 23 drops over the 1st 6 games?

Wow. That is a lot. If each pass went for 10 yards, that's 230 yards right there. Some were for more and drives would have been extended.

Now, consider how that affected his mentality over the second half of the year along with an offensive line that had problems.

Would have won the UF game for sure. Would have put us in a tie with Bama so we wouldn't have gone to the SEC ship but probably would have gone to the Sugar Bowl vs Louisville.

Equal to the number of yards he lost by over/under throwing open receivers.
