Who is ready for some CGI gremlins?

quote:

Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned that Warner Bros. is officially moving ahead with a remake of Amblin’s 1984 Gremlins, instead of the long gestured sequel.

While a hunt is on for a director, Seth Grahame-Smith has been tapped to produce alongside David Katzenberg. Smith wrote Dark Shadows for Tim Burton, and recently completed his draft for the studio’s next Beetlejuice. He also penned Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for Fox.

As long as they keep the dark comedy feel of the first one, I'm okay with it, but it seems the execution of a dark comedy -- or audience appreciation -- died in the 90s with the Cable Guy and Death to Smoochy.

Hoping Will Smith's children are in this reboot.

If viewed as a comedy it was one of the best films from that year.

if they use puppets and keep the dark tone of the original I can get on board.

if they go straight CG and attempt to be zany like 2?

GTFO

there is no way they'd give a flick like Gremlins top of the line CG and its a nearly guarantee the difficult to pull off meta nature of 2 would fly right over the head of whatever hack writer they would place on it.
