re: Robert Gates on Benghazi

$300 million short of what Clinton requested for embassy security.
This just in: that amounts to .0058 of the total State Department budget (a little over one-half of one percent of the total budget - for the mathematically challenged liberals in the audience). Yet another diversionary tactic - not putting things in the proper prospective. But the shock value was a nice try. Really it was.

Liberals rely so much on dumbed-down America to advance their agenda. Case in point.

Absolutely not blaming it on Ambassador Stevens. A brave public servant lost his life implementing foreign policy on the behalf of the United States.

Funding is not going to be expended on securing a temporary mission facility. Hence the "temporary" designation. It was being used for a specific purpose that was to be kept from prying eyes. I would like the question asked (which has NEVER been) why were the meeting there? What were they meeting about? And (again) what was the mission/purpose of the CIA annex.

RIP to Ambassador Stevens and condolences to his family.

Definitely not a liberal. As conservative as they come.

Something was going on and we are being played the fools. Focusing on videos and memos and not asking "why" they were even in harms way. What were they even doing there?

Yep.I agree that is likely.
She will be The President.
And then an Obama Girl or Chelsea in 2024.
And until that time you will continue the Rexian Art of The Pififul Deflection and Obfuscation.
Unable to debate honestly, you change topics.
For ten years and counting...

Don't know, all I can say is that Hillary was recently quoted as saying she "did NOT have sex with that man", while wagging her finger at the camera.

If you read this carefully you'll see he's lying. Sending a low flying aircraft above the speed of sound over the area, which is SOP for 'protest', would have done no harm and may have saved 4 lives. Can't you see that.?

Rex, you are missing the point.

Not only did they make the wrong decision, they then tried to cover it up because they knew they were wrong. Additionally, the idea that our assets are being micromanaged to the point that the President, Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense has to jointly agree on what action to take in a fluid situation is completely stupid.

This reminds me of LBJ's failures in Viet Nam.

It's what they do best - in tandem with the Lame Stream Media in making it appear that way more people think that way than actually do. AKA: "The Bubble".

FYI... Rex's sig: "If 50 million people believe a foolish thing it is still a foolish thing." Nuf said...

Would be interested to know how engaged President Obama was throughout this incident. Did he remain in the situation room throughout the night?

Wrong. Little to lose and a lot to gain.

quote:

"to send some small number of special forces or other troops in without knowing what the environment is, without knowing what the threat is, without having any intelligence in terms of what is actually going on on the ground, would have been very dangerous. It's sort of a cartoonish impression of military capabilities and military forces. The one thing that our forces are noted for is planning and preparation before we send people in harm's way, and there just wasn't time to do that."

Agreed. An element that was not in country and had no mission preparation could have easily turned into an unmitigated disaster. No doubt about it.

But what about the SOF element that was already in country? In Tripoli? That was not given permission or mission support to deploy to Benghazi? They knew the terrain because they had provided security support in Benghazi multiple times.

I think the entire Benghazi thing is just to try and discredit the party in power, nothing more.

Ruin Hillary's chances in 2016 against whoever they put up.

Everything to which you alluded in your silly post has been previously rebutted in exhaustive detail... satisfactorily.

Of course.... and hypocritically by people who excused away just about everything Bush did that ultimately cost 5000 or so American lives.

Led by Lt. Col. Roberts. SOFREP never quotes a hard number but it apparently was up to twelve personnel. They were serving in several capacities, one of which was PSD (from time to time) for Ambassador Stevens.

Age (and her 2016 Democratic challengers in the primaries) have already made this fait accompli. She will not get the nomination. I highly doubt she will even run. She has much to lose and very little (if anything) to gain.

I knew all of this. And it's logical to assume that they made their way to Benghazi a few times. I was just wondering if this was established fact.
