Well, for those with Fox SW.

Series win vs. the Angels. A blown save = no sweep.

Hope they take 1 from the Rangers.

Anyhow, I found this article and thought it was interesting.

The comments on the bottom are equally hilarious trying to find fault with the writer and claiming he's trying to take up for Crane.

This ain’t your daddy’s rebuilding project

Honest question.

Is it a blown save in the 8th?

I guess it could be because he could have gone the 8th and 9th and the tying run was on deck but it just looks weird to say it that way.

Saw the boxscore and it was scored a BS.

They may have changed it.

Yes, it is counted as a BS even in the 8th.

The story of that game was Dominguez 3 errors (really should have been 4 - he misplayed another ball that should've been scored an error, but the official scorer took pity on him).

Also, why in the hell did Porter leave Ambriz in - he threw 11 pitches that were no where NEAR the strike zone. He should have pulled him after walking the bases loaded.

And finally, back to my earlier comment about Brocail the other day... why is that guy the pitching coach? He really isn't doing much for that team. And if ANYONE should've pulled Porter aside and said, "yo boss, you can't pull Wright until he pitches to at least one batter." -- it should've been the damn pitching coach.

Anyway -- looking forward to this series with the Rangers. Without automatic K's from F-Mart and Ankiel, this lineup is actually a bit more fun to watch. Now if we can just go ahead and move Pena and open the door for Jabu to play 1B full time and give the true outfielders a bit more at bats.

One hell of a catch by Barnes last night.

That was pretty amazing. I like these little flashes of promise that show up every now and then.

Here is the Wikipedia article on a save:

LINK

(For some reason the TD software does not recognize the right parenthetical mark as part of the link, so when you click you will then have to click what Wikipedia thinks you are trying to reach. I have no clue how to fix this.)

Since both Clemens and Ambriz came into the game in a save situation (in their cases, with the potential tying run either on base, at bat, or on deck, regardless of what inning) and both allowed the tying run to score, both were charged with blown saves. ( as I wanted to see the Halos swept)

Porter said that he thought that was not in effect because the Angels pinch hit. At least that was his interpretation of the rule.

My point exactly. That was his interpretation. Someone, like Brocail, should have pulled him to the side before he made that move and said, "yo boss, there's probably 12,999 people in this stadium that have a different interpretation. you probably don't want to do this."

I'm not really disappointed that Porter mis-interpreted the rule. I guess I am in a pissy mood at Brocail. I have seen no improvement in the pitching staff since he was brought in... the Astros need to move on and find that "Mike Maddox" type of pitching coach. Someone who can elevate a below average staff to average and a average staff to very damn good.

I think the rule sucks. He brought in Wright to handle the lefty.

After he sees Wright, he switched to the righty.

Maybe I'm not following this correctly because I didn't see it...

But a hitter can be yanked after seeing what pitcher is on the mound, but a pitcher can't?

Advantage: offense

Correct?

Porter seems like a good guy!

Jose de Jesus Ortiz ?@OrtizKicks 31m
Porter: "I feel bad that I put them in that position where they felt, ‘Maybe Bo is right.’"

Jose de Jesus Ortiz ?@OrtizKicks 32m
More Porter: "That’s why for me I give my deepest apologies to their entire crew. Mike Scioscia was right."

Jose de Jesus Ortiz ?@OrtizKicks 32m
Porter: "It’s an honest mistake, but it’s obviously a mistake that we look at in (MLB) and we don’t want to have mistakes like that."

He has the advantage tonight, though, as the Rangers are pitching OH GAWD NO.

And fortunately the Astros had the roof closed or that Cruz Missile would still be rolling around Downtown Houston!

How do the 2013 Astros compare to the 1992 Astros?

Is this a team that could go from worst to second in a year?
