I'm sure this thread has been started before, but I couldn't find anything with the Search function.

So, best cop movies. What you got?

Some of my favorites, in no particular order: Lethal Weapon, L.A. Confidential, The Departed (my most favorite), Training Day, Fargo, End of Watch, Hot Fuzz, ETA: Heat

Good list. I'll add Rush Hour.

Solid choices. I'd add Dirty Harry, The French Connection and Heat to that list.

I think the Departed and Serpico are the best as films that I can think of.

Movies like the Lethal Weapons, the Beverly Hills Cops, and 48 hours while great are in practically a completely different genre.

Is Fargo a cop movie?

eta: oh shite. What about the Negotiator? I'll watch just about anything that has Samuel L in it.

I'm not sure if Zodiac counts because it focuses more on the reporter's investigation than the SFPD. That's one of my favorite crime films.

Dark Blue with Kurt Russel was pretty good I thought.

This is a tough list because it can be so broad. Does the whole story have to be around law enforcement or can they just play a significant part?

The Cop/Law Enforcement movies that I own off of the top of my head...

Beverly Hills Cop
Training Day
Heat
Lethal Weapon
Die Hard
Police Academy
Serprico
A Man on Fire
A Man Apart
The Departed
The Siege
Bad Boys 1/2
No Country for Old Men
Hard to Kill
Glimmer Man
