Watched the pilot the other night with the wife.
Started out interesting, then became meh, at best.

I like the whole supernatural aspect, but the FBI protocol she didn't go through to find a cure for her lover was just awful.

At least make some aspect of the show grounded in reality

It's a scifi show, not a crime drama. This isn't the XFiles where Scully is always filing reports and there are constant meetings with Assistant Director Skinner and back room politics and government conspiracies. If you are looking for more of a procedural FBI show you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a well crafted scifi show you will be very happy you kept watching.

Keep watching. Season 1 can be a chore at times. The show gets a LOT better once it starts to get into the mythology.

gets exponentially better. I wouldn't recommend judging any show by a single episode but this goes triple for fringe. the attraction is how well written and crafted the story arc was. every aspect jj abrams failed in with lost he succeeded in fringe. you definitely have to have a little sci-fi fan in you but it is a brilliant show

See my thread from a couple of months ago. I too was initially unimpressed. Now it is up near the top for me.

Yet Lost is the far superior show

I didn't say fringe was better than lost. lost did have one major deficiency though and it was lack of end game which he excelled at with fringe. jj abrams once stated he considered his lost writers his B team and his fringe his A team

it really starts to pick up mid 1st season if you make it to the end of season 1 and still aren't a fan then it is not for you.

The first season barely cracks the surface of fringe...the pilot couldn't be further from what that show becomes.

There's a reason that Fringe is thought of so highly on this board. I had an amazing run!

I watched the first season recently and then stopped. It was pretty good, but not great and nothing about it really sucked me in. I might pick it back up at some point

I just got to "White Tulip" last night.

While probably being the best episodes thus far...it is no where close to the top episodes of other good TV shows.

I know this episode is thought of very highly on this bored and it is worrying me

This. An ok show, nothing gripped me outside of a few episodes that were "inspired" from other classic shows. No rush to finish season 5.

I read Fear's response before I saw who had originally posted it...all I could think was, "this sounds like Fox Mulder". Yep.

Fear.. could you bump that thread from Saturday so I could answer their questions?

I have been busy with work and went to a festival this weekend, so I've been away a bit.

As for the OP - meh, different strokes

As for Fringe > LOST - I think so, but I'm also bias.
