Compensator or no Compensator, that is the question

Ok, topic is a .357 revolver.
6" regular barrel vs. a 6.5" ported barrel.
Does a 6" 357 recoil enough to benefit from a ported barrel?

I've never shot one with a ported barrel, but the recoil on mine is minimal

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!
The muzzle blast will be enough to knock satellites out of orbit.

Don't get a ported barrel unless you want your ears to bleed.

That's what I was thinking. Can't imagine the fireball going up instead of out

Seriously, most 6" .357s weigh enough to make recoil VERY manageable.

This is the main reason my dad doesn't want to port any of his deer rifles, even his 300 Mag.

My uncle ported his 300wby. That is the loudest fricking bang I've ever heard in my life.

The loudest thing I've ever fired was one of those 338 Lapua Savage rifles. The port on the front was huge. You could see everything on tables shake when it was fired.

That would be rough on a .357 magnum.

I have a .357 with a 6.5 ported barrel. The recoil is minimum but it is loud as frick. If I shoot it twice consecutively without earplugs my ears will ring for an hour

What exactly do you have?
Regardless, you guys have definitely talked me out of 6.5 ported.
Also, 43 oz vs 51 oz on your hip is a substantial difference when walking for hours on end.

Yup
I have a model 28-2, N frame I think. Other than really hot buffalo bore recoil ain't bad at all. Even buffalo bore its not even close to a 44mag.
