I remember reading some articles when Detroit got the Super Bowl that put this in serious doubt. The costs of hosting the event are astronomical. The benefit is intangible that you may convince people on TV, etc. to visit in the future.

Absolutely. The facade of making money from a Super Bowl is grossly over blown. The amount of money that these cities have to now spend just to be in the running is insane. Bottom line, tax dollars shouldn't be used for stadiums and facilities and if they are the city should have full access to them. You want a stadium, fine but I suggest you foot the bill for an operations facility that is close proximity because we may host some events in this thing.
