My friend is from south america and is trying to practice her English. She speaks well. She would understand any program(it doesn't have to be like cartoons or something for kids). Anyway, I don't watch to much TV in English. What are some good shows that she could watch? I told her the office is really funny but I didn't know much else to recommend. Any recommendations?

Great shows, but I don't think would be great to teach English, particularly The Wire. I was trying to think of another - Mary Tyler Moore would be good, although a little dated.

Frasier would be good.

I think The Shield would be good as well, although would suffer from some of the same problems as The Wire. The bonus for Spanish speakers is there's a little bit of Spanish here and there for that connection. Of course BB would have that, too. On second thought, Breaking Bad wouldn't be all that bad, if you can get past Jessie and Tuco.

I guess it depends on how advanced her English is, but comedies may be confusing with all the word play and double meanings. I would think one of the many crime dramas might work best. They are usually well enunciated and spend a lot of time saying what they're doing "I found the gun".

If by practice her English, she means try to advance her knowledge of American euphemisms and idioms, then stuff like Archer, Arrested Development, or really any TV show will help, particularly comedies.

If she's looking to learn more formal English... I don't know, Downtown Abbey?

I was going to suggest that and Gilmore Girls.

Really up the ante on her understanding of the language.
