My Welsh Terrier jumps at the wire as if, maybe, one day, she will reach the squirrel.

My dog growing up was a collie/shepard mix.
She was an awesome squirrel dog but never would bark.

That is a funny arse picture.

My terrier will hear something I don't. She's 2 feet from me. Barks at a volume higher than a jet engine. Scares the crap out of me.

my border collie/lab/whothehellknows mutt dog has finally learned to catch them in the backyard. She no longer runs at the squirrel...she runs to the tree and just has to beat it there. Got three in one day a couple of weeks ago. Even brought one to the backdoor as a gift for the wife who was working from home that day. Wife wasn't pleased, especially after seeing how proud I was. I don't know of many 70 lb mutt dogs that are fast enough to catch squirrels in the open. She won't bark at the trees but she will bounce her front feet off of them.

Oh these two kill all sorts of stuff but these cat squirrels are a little too fast for them
It's funny as hell to walk out the back with them & fricking squirrels are all over the place

One has been torturing my lab for several weeks now. She just lays next to the window and watches, when he shows up she lets me know. At first she took the full on wide open sprint approach and failed every time, now she has learned to be more stealthy and is gaining ground on said squirrel daily. I predict she will catch him in the next two weeks.

Mine would bark just once, then you had to find her and hope she scratched or squirrel moved so her bell would ring. Glad she didn't start the barking thing, she could pick up birds before we could and I would have beat her arse if she flared birds.
