For anyone who has not been paying attention, the saints valued vaccaro because of his abilities at safety AND the nickel position. He has a quality that they like for the defense we will run. They addressed value and need with one pick. We are hurting more at the safety position than linebacker. That's the facts.

I've been payin attention. I know we have a backup, and two guys who have never player OLB in a 34.

I also know its a shite ton easier to find a nickel back than a pass rusher

They really did. I was upset at the time, but we really did have horrible safety play last year. After FA it was our biggest glaring hole. With IAQ and Vacarro we have a promising pair (provided they like IAQ) for years.

I've said before that the people we have at OLB (Wilson, Galette and Bulter) strengths are rushing the passer. That's the one thing we know they can do. What I'm not so sure about is how they'll hold up in the run game, contain the outside and cover.

Plus we're running a pressure scheme, so unless our players are completely inept, or we go back to GW style "I'm not going to disguise my blitzes," we will have a pass rush.

Another thing to consider in regards to our pass rush: Hicks, Jordan and Big John Jenkins.
