Pete And Shaq No argument
Ben is a friend but better than Albert Bell?
Bert no
Billy Cannon - great LSU player but you said greatest athletes - he won the Heisman so maybe but I would have Jimmy Taylor
Bob Petit? top 50 all time NBA players
How about David Toms?

Chris Jackson: The most Celebrated Freshman of ALL-TIMEhe set an NCAA freshman scoring record ...pt guard...averaged 30 points a game...ALL Century Team
Having Chris Jackson over Pete Maravich is completely insane. I know he has the NCAA freshman scoring record, but remember pistol pete had to play on the freshman team. i don't think it's a stretch to say that a guy who averaged 43.8, 44.2, and 44.5 while on LSU's varsity team would have managed to score >30.2 as a freshman. Especially considering that as a freshman he scored 43.6 playing against all freshmen, and every year after that he scored MORE per game playing for the varsity squad.

Pete Maravich was a GREAT BB player, but I don't think of him has having the athletic gifts of some of the others on here.
Xavier C. and Trindon were fast...

3. Kevin Faulk;
4. Dwayne Scales;
5. Michael Brooks;
6. Michael Clayton;
7. Shaq;
8. Chris Jackson;
9. Cecil Collins;
10.Bert Jones

Cannon was a really good athlete, I know he was on the track & field team.
quote:
was named All-State and All-America and led his high school to a state championship in 1955. He would later run the 100 yard dash in 9.4 seconds, and the 40 yard dash in 4.12 seconds. He put a 16-pound shot 54 feet

"Any love for Richard Thompson? Won silver medal behind Usain Bolt at the 2008 Olympics in the 100m"
I thought about including him, but everyone in my top 5 was numero uno at something very important (an MVP, scoring championships, etc.). I realize that the comparison may not be perfect, though, because a gold medal is damn hard to come by, especially when you're runner up to Usain Bolt.

4) Ben McDonald
Really?
Apparently you don't watch baseball, do you?
You know how Aaron Nola has pitched 3 consecutive Complete Games, well, Ben McDonald pitched 44.2 consecutive shutout innings. (A record never to be broken at LSU)
Oh, how many LSU baseball players were drafted #1 overall in the MLB draft? 1, Ben McDonald.
Owns the SEC record for Strikeouts per 9 innings - Averaged almost 12/game in 1989.
And he played basketball
