As for the story, who knows? Like many people said, del Toro delivers on his movies.
If he can make a decent movie out of Hellboy 2, I have no worries.
Plus, the mech hits the giant monster with a fricking ship. A frickING SHIP!!

As far as we know, it is not a set of giant robots forming together to form an even bigger giant robot, a la Voltron or Power Rangers, so I'm sticking with my Gundam reference.
