Should be 10. Delaney won't put a stop to teams scheduling D1aa schools because he wants 7 home games. Scheduling good OOC opponents won't fix the B1G's competitiveness problem, but it would help.
Old white people.

Likely. More games against poverty BiG teams and then D1AA schools. Who wants to watch that shite? Rutgers vs Indiana - game of the week. No thanks Jeff.
Its 2013 and teams are still regionalizing their schedules. Such backwards logic.

Ohio State said this shouldn't hinder their better OOC matchups. Think they are also trying to rid of 1AA opponents by 2014 too.

9 is better than 8. You already get fricked sometimes depending on the rotation of who you play on the other side. The championship game clears out any real unfairness, anyway. Nothing could be worse than last season with the probations.

If it wasnt for tradition, Ohio State should travel nationally and go independent in football.
Not sure why they accept other B1G schools to leach off their successes. With no incentives to improve, since everyone gets paid the same, the conference will remain mediocre.

Not sure what is so funny. Why do you think Meyer has been so proactive in his attempts to get the other schools to improve?
Keep the game with Michigan and travel the country. A couple SEC games, PAC12 games, ACC games, etc. They have the fanbase to support it, one of the few schools which could.

The Michigan schools have the alumni base to do it too, I'm sure

Because Ohio State makes more as part of a conference. I haven't seen the numbers from the latest ND extension with NBC, but in the past ND was making less from that deal than the teams in the B1G and SEC were from their TV deals. No one else, including tOSU or Texas could get as much alone as ND can. Having some "slcker" teams ans spliting the revenue equally serves a purpsoe. It gives you some built in wins and serves as kind of an insurance polcy for your down years. The Big XII model proved unstable.
There's a reason why everyone but Notre Dame pretty much joined a conference.

I want to see a conference man up and eliminate OOC play.

there are 2 different points. It would be better for Meyer and the conference if other teams improved. We'll see what happens with the new money coming in. SEC teams plowed the money back into the programs and that's a big reason for the success.
In the meantime, it would benefit tOSU to really schedule up OOC. Keep your one in state rent a win, but go get some more games like Texas and USC, play in the Jerry world game etc.

Some conferences have to, like the Big12. I do prefer the old Pac10 with the round-robin schedules instead of CCGs, though

That is exactly what appears to be happening with future scheduling which I applaud. I am appalled at the OOC schedule Ohio State has this coming season.

why would we want to eliminate Florida-FSU, USC-ND, Clemson-So Car etc?
I would start with eliminating games vs FCS teams

For successful athletic departments like Ohio State and ND, the money argument is such crap. Poverty programs like Maryland need conference TV money, not Ohio State.
Youre right, ND makes less from TV contracts, but their nationalized brand more than makes up for that ~$5 million difference, especially in terms of prestige for which there is no pricetag.
And I honestly think Ohio State would be just as, if not more attractive, than ND as an independent. That alumni network is 4-5x as strong.

There is no price tag for prestige, classic nd perspective.
