After running to Bait INC. In Chalmette for live shrimp we trailered the boat back to Irish Bayou and headed out to the south end of the Trestles. Fished hard with artificials along with 80 other boats and had one nice fish on. Saw one other boat land two on artificial then the bite stopped. Tried live Carolina rig and only got trash fish. Turned on the fish finder and saw suspended fish about 2' off the bottom.Rigged up sliding corks and started picking up some nice 3-4# fish. Not many but quality. We were the only ones we could see really catching anything and saw several people who saw us catching on corks try fishing with the only corks they had on their boat. Popping corks.

Ended up with 10 trout and one flounder.

Very nice. A guy at work brought me an ice chest with 34 specks in it on Friday out of the lake. I gave him some extra OT a few weeks back and he brought me an ice chest full of fish.

All reports I'm getting say they are there and big, just need clean water. You have to hit them in the head with bait lately.

They had some pretty nice size trout for the Trestles,I'm not going to lie.
the reason northshore bait shops don't have live shrimp is because they're losing them. To much fresh water in the lake and their bait systems are open loop.

Nice specks. I'm supremely jealous.

We used to flyline live shrimp when we saw the fish suspended. Tiny treble hook was a bitch sometimes but we found it very effective.

Nice box of trout. How do you rig a sliding cork?

You have to buy some sliding cork strings wrapped around littie tubes . Arsenal goes on in this order.

String with tube(pull tub e out leaving string on fishing line)

Bead

Cork with hollow tube running thru it

3/8-1/2oz egg weight

Swivel

2' of flourocarbon leader

Treble hook.

The string at the top you slide up and down to adjust the depth of your bait

It'll be a bitch to cast at 8ft depth.
