Has anyone discussed this yet? What round did he think he was going in that would make him jump ship so soon?

Huge mistake ... should have came back

He thought that he would get hurt again and possibly never get drafted or play in the league. The knee scared him and he bolted. It happens.

Probably fourth
But remember the new rookie scale. It's not the first contract. It's the second. That's the retirement contract.

If he gets drafted than thats a better round than Ciron Black. I think that is what he was worried about.

that only affected first rounders...and really only basically like the top 10-12 picks
he feared being the next ciron black

Can't say I blame him after Ciron Black went undrafted.
Edit: Well apparently I wasn't the only one with this sentiment.

Unless he goes undrafted, he should be fine.

Ciron's injury just heartbreaking for him and his family; wish Faulk the best.

HE made the biggest mistake of anyone IMO.
He could have had his stock SKYROCKET after a great year at LT next season. Now he will have to fight very hard to make a roster and earn a crappy contract (in comparison to a 1st/2nd rounder).

get drafted as mid late - round pick > coming back to school and possibly suffering career ending injury.
He'll learn more in the NFL and he'll be able to concentrate on his craft while getting paid several hundred thousand starting off.

ACL isn't a death sentence anymore. He messed up leaving injured.

The "but what if got injured again" is the worst argument ever. He's already going to have to fight for a NFL roster spot at this point and if he gets injured as some say he could in college next season, in the NFL they would just place him on IR and then cut him. Career over anyways.
How many times do players get severe injuries twice too? It's an ACL tear, not exactly something that TENDS to happen multiple times and is a common injury players come back from now.
He would have made a lot more GUARANTEED money coming back for another year.

What would you do if you were offered a job making mid six figures or having the opportunity to wait a year making no money for PERHAPS a better starting salary. What would you do?

That is a bit dramatic. Pre-injury he was considered 1st round talent. Why not get payed to rehab that knee? Hell, if make league minimum he will still be paid quite wel.

League minimum is like $3xx thousand for 1 year
vs. going even late 1st round is a which is millions in GUARANTEED money and a multi-year deal
No question I'm saying in school to improve my draft spot. Poor argument from you...why would any player not just go pro if they can be a 6th or 7th round pick? Because if you can improve stock, you get a lot more guaranteed money.

Who said anything about another ACL? He could just get nicked up and it affects his play. If he was guaranteed to have a big year coming back, then he can make a team and get paid now.

There is no guarantee he would have been drafted any higher if he came back, you are just speculating. 2 days ago people were talking about Jesse Williams going in the first, he's still on the board as well.

and if he injures his knee again and goes undrafted? Too much of a risk

This is very true.
