New Mexico State won back to back Sun Bowls in 1959 and 1960.

They also went undefeated in 1960 winning the BAAA conference with an 11-0 record.

Wait, what year is it?

Verge Ausberry is a top notch guy, Les is not afraid to play anyone, complain all you want but I would bet my bottom dollar that we have at least one top notch out of conf game in 2014, anyone want to disagree, or bet me, one BCS top 25 type team in 2014 non conf, COUNT ON IT...

They have about as many wins as LSU has losses in the last 5 years

Why don't we just schedule 4 of the following out of conference schools: USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Nebraska, Clemson
Florida State, Virginia tech, or Michigan. That should make some of you real happy. Of course we would probably have more injuries than ever, only six home games and be totally worn out by the ninth game. I just don,t get it. Why do you think other powers play the same kind of rinky dink OOC schools. It is called survival.

With LSU breaking in a new QB I don't know if a marquee non conf game is on the docket. Would not mind the Reliant Kickoff Classic for 14 if a decent opponent could be lined up.

I wonder if LSU will play Tulane at their new home stadium when complete since LSU owes them a game in New Orleans for breaking contract.

It would thrill me beyond words if we could get one of those on our upcoming schedule every year.

I love it when LSU plays a big name school.

Over react much?

There are 15 some odd schools within reasonable driving range of Baton Rouge that would be much more attractive than New Mexico State, including anyone in the Southland or Sun Belt

Remember when LSU opened with Oregon and the excitement that game generated more than a year in in advance? Remember when we opened with North Texas and the yawns that game generated even as it was being played?

Big OOC games is what college football is all about and its what the fans want. Its a shame the fans have lost out to overly cautious schedulers around the country.
