This just started on HBO and I haven't seen this movie in forever. Anyone else like this movie?

As much as I know this board loves Kate Beckinsale, figured there would be a few fans of this movie on here.

That Sarah Mclaughlin song from the soundtrack had quite a few rave remixes back in the day

It was just scary how they got caught up with the smuggler. Then the prison. It just amazes me how harshly they were treated.
It's been awhile since I saw it, didn't one of them get a really long sentence and the other get out early?

It was the late 90s though. Seems like many songs had rave remixes back then

I liked it enough that it convinced me to stay the hell out of Thailand.

ETA: Are you aware of Schappelle Corby? Basically the same story, but in real life.

Between that movie and The Beach...yeah Thailand isn't at the top of my "must travel" list

However, I actually know two different girls that are engaged right now that are going there on their honeymoons.

that's because her brother is the front man for Delirious, who did the music.

The Beach

now that's a polarizing movie. I enjoyed it, but most didn't seem to.

Soooo, who planted the cocaine in the backpacks?

I really didn't understand the ending.

Remember the guy that knocked on the door to help them with their bags when they were rushing off to the airport?

He was working with the white drug dealer. Remember they show him with the backpack on his back as the girls are walking out the hotel in front of him.

Totally did not realize Paul Walker was in this movie

He's one of their HS friends that comes to visit them and brings them "padded" bras

If brokedown palace made me want to avoid Thailand, The Beach put it back on my list of top ten places to go.

It was beautiful in the movie, not gonna lie. Where they filmed the beach parts of the movie would be the only area I'd want to visit.

I didn't say I would never go there, it just isn't top of my list. I certainly wouldn't pass up a free trip there or anything.

I would just keep my eyes on my bags at all times
