It's because it is so socially unacceptable. Spitting on someone is essentially harmless, but if somebody did it to you, most would erupt in a blind rage. Biting is the same thing. Using a racial epithet is completely harmless, but most would agree that using it on the pitch deserves a large ban.

We are a bunch of pansies. I don't think the suspension is too long, but I think the general hysteria over the bite is ridiculous.

Suarez should be banned maybe forever IMO b/c he's obviously nuts, but biting somebody's arm is not as bad as people are making it out to be. Like you said, it's the offensiveness of it that seems to be ruling people up, and that is silly.

I really think it is riling people up exactly as much as it should. Look at another example that I brought up multiple times. If you spit on a person, it's harmless, but it is one of the lowliest things you can do to another human. If you took a bunch of sweat from your jersey and flung it at a player, you probably wouldn't even get a card. It just wouldn't be a big deal (or make any sense obviously). Both incidents just involved a little bit of bodily fluid, but one is much more reprehensible.

It's more the intent and childishness of it to me but still 10 matches doesn't seem to be right.

biting is so reprehensible that its been nothing but joked about, ad nauseum, all week long??

If it was Rooney, people would say, god damn that mother fricker went nuts for a second and moved on... sure there would be jokes, but not this over the top act of moral outrage...

I just find it hilarious that there are people that are so personally hurt by what he did and they aren't fans of either Liverpool of Chelsea.

Such a national outrage. His ban should do wonders so the world can heal from this terrible affront to humanity.

The only one's who should be posting anything other than funny memes about this are Liverpool and Chelsea fans because they are the only ones who were affected.

WE ALL AGREE WITH YOU AND YOU WON'T FIND ONE 'POOL FAN THAT SAYS OTHERWISE ...

The problem I have is find and prove to me why the 10 match ban is justified to the crime committed?
